Pubs in the Buxton area

Cat and Fiddle

01298-23364

Situated about 3.5 miles from Buxton on the Macclesfield road (A537), the Cat and Fiddle is in the heart of the moors and is one of the highest pubs in England.

You'll find a lot of walkers here as well as pony treckers and motor cyclists. Just a few hundred yards on the Macclesfield side, there is a site popular with the radio sloap soarer enthusiasts. A little further on towards Macclesfield is a ridge where hang gliders enjoy their suicidal activity (you wouldn't catch me up there!)

The pub is a Robinsons house and has the usual range of beers, largers, wines and spirits. Other facilities include:

      - lounge bar and dining room (no muddy boots and no
         juke-box)
      - bar with pool table
      - menu to suit all tastes
      - helicopter rides (see adverts or call for dates)

The Crag Inn (Wildboarclough)

The pretty way to get to the Crag Inn is to take the Macclesfield road (A54 then A537), and about one mile past the Cat and Fiddle take the left turn to Wildboarclough.
